CITB have recently announced essential updates to the Skills and Training Fund, the Employer Network, and NVQ grant funding, which will have a significant impact on CITB-registered Companies across the UK.

1.     Skills & Training Fund Closure

The Skills & Training Fund is closing.

  • Final applications must be submitted by 30th September 2025.

  • Any applications submitted in August may be paid upfront (although this is not guaranteed).

  • Applications submitted in September will definitely be paid at the end.

  • Approved training must be completed within 12 months, with no variations accepted.

2.     Employer Network Funding

With the removal of the Skills & Training Fund, the Employer Network will now take the lead in supporting training.

  • CITB will cover 70% of training costs, while the employer contributes 30%.

  • Training such as First Aid and Manual Handling is accepted through the EN.

  • Grants are still available for training that is not put through the Employer Network.

  • Importantly, NVQs are not currently eligible for Employer Network funding.

3.     NVQ Grant Reductions

From 31st December 2025, grant rates for certain NVQs will be reduced:

  • Level 3 Occupational Work Supervision (OWS): currently £1,250 → reducing to £600

  • Level 6 Management NVQs: currently £1,500 → reducing to £600

To secure the higher grant amounts, NVQs must be fully completed, certificate in hand, and the grant application submitted before 31st December 2025.

Level 2 NVQs, including plant NVQs, will remain funded at the current rates.

4.     Open Day – Ashburton Training Centre

To help employers and learners understand these changes, Hybrid Safety Training are hosting an Open Day at our Ashburton Training Centre on 9th September.

CITB Advisor Angus Hamilton will run a live Q&A session, explaining the funding changes and answering any questions.

This time with CITB is a valuable opportunity to gain clarity, plan ahead, and maximise the use of available funding before deadlines take effect.
